A journey that began in July 2009 and is leading the municipality of Montespertoli to be one of the most advanced institutions in terms of technology and management.
After checking the feasibility of migration to different systems and open source software, the Office of the City EDC has started the phase of the monitoring of all software included to the various offices of the Administration, identifying the corresponding versions for each open source software, the steps for migration and the resulting timing. In December 2009, the City Council approved the three-year program for the transition to open source, which has three distinct phases:
FIRST PHASE (2010) - completed
- encourage the use by office equipment, software (eg Open Office) and open-source browser (eg Firefox), involving all appropriate managers of
- installation, training and commissioning of the new open source software on akropolis Proceedings (Acts administrative and protocol) and the Demographic Services (Registry, electoral, SAIA, marital status)
SECOND PHASE (year 2011)
- replace the software management that are not yet compatible with Server and Client, Linux and open source software and browsers, provided those software for which there is a corresponding adjustment in developed open source
THREE (year 2012)
- install the Linux operating system on the office computers and make any necessary intervention training to employees, provided those computers that use specific software for which there is no free software that allows to perform the procedures required for Law
