One study of the consulting firm Accenture seeks to create a complete picture of the role and use of Open Source in the enterprise.
Accenture interviewed about 300 companies in the private and public sectors to try to define their propensity to Open Source.
The results seem encouraging and significant and can be summarized:
- 80% says it wants to increase investment in
- 69% of users of open source say that they consider it safer and faster in updates
- 70% considers the most reliable
- 40% say they want to migrate to Open Source this year
However, it appears that private firms are more receptive and aware of the importance of the phenomenon that is transformed into opportunities than to public companies that are rather harder to understand its importance.
